Challenged to Blur

Challenged to Blur

The final week of my month in 35mm is based around the Week 8 Photo Challenge of foreground and background blur, which fits the large aperture lens well.

Whilst I might not have been the most inspired in this month of cold and gloom I’ve enjoyed shooting with the XF 35mm, it continues to be my favourite lens.

The focal length has proven in general to be very versatile, particularly for outdoor use; not too long, not too short.

The lens itself is also lovely to use; small, solid and a tactile aperture ring that adds to the experience of shooting immensely. It balances perfectly on the X-E2.

All of these images were taken on a walkabout of Emsworth for the February assignment which shall be finished soon.

March will see the first processing challenge of the year. A month of no post-processing on PC. I will be limited to the in-camera RAW converter and Snapseed on my tablet. Aside from the obvious challenge of trying to “get it right” in the camera it will also serve as practice with the various film simulations the camera provides and editing on a mobile device, both of which will be important on our first family holiday in 5 years in April!
